At People Like Me, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive. Established in 2011, our organization is rooted in the belief that “Success is Your Birthright.” As a community-based organization, we serve youth, adults, and families by providing comprehensive prevention and support services tailored to meet their unique needs.
Our work focuses on addressing the challenges of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention, while also offering programs like mentoring, re-entry services, and workforce development. Using culturally specific and age-appropriate strategies, particularly for the African American community, we aim to empower individuals and families to restore hope, achieve stability, and build a brighter future.

Meet The Man With the Vision
About Our Founder: A Jay Pullen
A visionary leader and community advocate, A Jay Pullen founded People Like Me with a mission to empower individuals and families in underserved communities. With a deep passion for creating positive change, A Jay has spent over a decade championing initiatives that restore hope, foster stability, and uplift the African American community in Central Ohio.
After accepting his call to ministry in 2007, A Jay served as a youth pastor, where he developed a heart for mentoring and community support. In 2011, he brought his vision to life by launching People Like Me, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that now reaches thousands through culturally specific prevention programs, mentoring, and community engagement.
A Jay’s leadership extends beyond the organization. He has served on the Ohio Community Recovery Support Planning Council, the Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Advisory Board, and as a mentor for the Alvis Re-Entry Program. His dedication to improving lives and fostering connections has made him a respected leader and advocate for change.
“Success is your birthright,” A Jay often says—a mantra that inspires the mission and vision of People Like Me. Through his work, he continues to leave a lasting legacy of empowerment and hope.
